New Leadership Team Confirmed
New appointments keep farming credentials firmly at the heart of our show.
Our charity's trustees met on 7th October to review the 2025 Show and with the important task of electing a new Show Chairman and Vice Chairman for 2026.
Never afraid to step away from convention, our trustees continue to do what's in the best interests of the charity, making the most of the skills and experience of its board. Holly Taylor and Bill Peters shared the Show Chairman role and led the Show through three very successful events from 2023 to 2025. At the trustee meeting their strong partnership was noted and they were thanked for their great service in that time.
Edenbridge dairy farmer and previous Show President, John Downing, was nominated by Bill and Holly to step forward from Show Vice Chairman into the Show Chairman role and was duly appointed. Acknowledging the benefits that come from a 'job share' at this level, and keen to ensure continuity of leadership at a key time in our charity's development, John then nominated Holly Taylor to join him as Co-Chair for the 2026 show period. She accepted the nomination and was duly elected to serve alongside John.
Jo Masters was re-elected as the society's Vice Chairman. Continuing the practice of sharing responsibility in our senior positions, and adding further agricultural and rural leadership experience to the team, the Tandridge-based farm estate manager Alastair Roberts was then elected as Joint Vice Chairman to serve alongside Jo Masters.
We thank all our trustees for the many hours of voluntary service they give to the show to help ensure its success, but in particular those on the leadership team devote significant hours to the event, to the showground management and to the governance and activities of the charity.
Speaking of the appointment, John Downing said "I want to formally record my thanks to Bill and Holly for their leadership and for delivering three phenomenal events of which they should be very proud. I pledge to give 120% to the role of Show Chairman, taking forward my long family association with the show with great pride."
