We are so pleased to let everyone know that we've got a really exciting new set of classes for our 2-day show this August Bank Holiday weekend with the outline timetable (and confirmed judges) released as below. For our equestrian competitors we've reviewed and made a lot of changes to make sure we offer the best classes possible for enthusiastic entrants, be that showing in hand, under saddle, over poles or in harness.
We've retained a full set of HOYS qualifying classes this year, along with RIHS qualifiers and a direct LIHS qualifier in our Heritage Ridden section. Scroll down for the full list.
Changes & Highlights
A brand new Rescue Equine section runs (in hand and ridden) on Sunday 24th August. Affiliated to RESS these classes are an exciting new addition to help promote great equine management and show the results of good care after mistreatment and abandonment.
We've changed our ex-racehorse class this year to open the section to more competitors. We'll be celebrating ex-racers and Thoroughbreds in their own unaffiliated class - it's a non-jumping, showing class open to all Thoroughbreds with a Weatherby's passport.
There's been a revolution in our unaffiliated showjumping too! We know how popular these classes are so we're adding an extra height at 95cm. We're also bringing you a fab new unaffiliated accumulator class and we've grabbed Ring 4 for the Monday afternoon to make two fun heights of a brand new Eventers Challenge at 70cm & 80cm with classes split between adults and juniors.
The very tiniest horses return with our second year of British Miniature Horses vying to qualify for their HOYS ticket on the Sunday, and of course the ever-magnificent Shires and heavy horses will be competing and parading on the Monday, all decked out in their very finest ribbons.
Speaking of finery, the coaching classes return to the Main Ring on Sunday afternoon, following a fabulous morning of harness horse HOYS qualifiers and the fast and furious scurry driving.
Side Saddle enthusiasts will find something special both days, with costume and equitation classes on Sunday and HOYS qualifier on Monday.
Having offered qualifiers for the Irish Draught Horse Society National Championship Show for the first time last year, we're continuing this affiliation with eligible horses potentially able to qualify with us for the 2026 championship.
We've changed our Light Horse Breeding to a Show Horse Breeding section. Entrants no longer need to be members of SHGB to compete.
