LIVESTOCK FAQ'S
Where is the Showground?
Showground CPH No: 40/129/8000
Ardenrun Showground
Tandridge Lane
Lingfield
Surrey
RH7 6LL
When can livestock exhibitors arrive and depart?
Arrival: Saturday 29th August, between 8.00am and 6.00pm.
Livestock must remain on site until the Show closes on Monday 31st August. The Show is expected to close at around 5.00pm, but this is dependent on our Health & Safety Officer declaring it safe to open the appropriate gates.
Which entrance should I use?
Your entrance point is through the Blue Gate, located on Ray Lane.
What3Words: ///rice.ages.places
The entrance will be clearly signed.
If you are transporting livestock, you will not need a livestock vehicle hanger to access the site through the Blue Gate on Saturday before 6.00pm.
Anyone entering the site after 6.00pm on Saturday will need a vehicle hanger. Physical hangers will be included in the pack you collect on arrival, allowing you to come and go without issue.
An electronic version is also available for you to print if required.
Is there anything I need to know about the route?
Yes – please check your route carefully before setting your sat nav.
If you are travelling in a high-sided vehicle, please be aware that there is a low railway bridge with a 12'9" restriction on Tandridge Lane.
As you approach the Showground, follow the yellow livestock signs to avoid the low bridge and any unfortunate encounters with the railway!
Where do I collect my livestock pack?
The Livestock Check-In Point is next to the Livestock Gate, by the Buffalo Pond near the bus stop shown on the Show map.
At check-in, you will collect:
- Your livestock wristbands
- Camping passes
- Competition numbers for sheep and pig exhibitors
Extra wristbands and camping passes can also be purchased at the Livestock Check-In Point if required.
What about children aged 15 and under?
Children aged 15 years and under who are accompanying a livestock competitor can enter the Showground free of charge. Please bring them to the Livestock Check-In Point, or see your section's Chief Steward, to obtain their wristband.
What documents do I need for my cattle?
Please ensure you have the correct cattle passports and associated health documents for all animals you are bringing.
Cattle passports must be taken to the Steward Tent, where you will receive your competition numbers in return.
Where is livestock camping?
Livestock camping is located within the Livestock Parking area.
Please park considerately and maintain safe distances between caravans and tents.
Can I use a barbecue?
No. Barbecues are NOT permitted.
Given the dry conditions, this is an important fire-safety precaution.
If you are camping on site, we also recommend bringing a fire blanket or fire extinguisher and making sure you know where your nearest fire point is located.
What should I do about Blue Tongue?
Please check all livestock carefully before travelling for any signs of Blue Tongue or other illness.
Symptoms of Blue Tongue can include:
- Fever
- Drooling
- Swelling of the face or tongue
- Redness or sores around the mouth and nose
- Nasal discharge
- Lameness
- Reluctance to eat or move
As Blue Tongue is spread by biting midges, we strongly recommend treating your animals with an appropriate fly spray or midge repellent.
Our vets will be active on site checking livestock. Thank you for taking all sensible precautions to help protect the health of the animals at the Show.
What bedding is provided?
The Show provides straw for first bedding only.
You will need to bring all feed and any additional bedding material you require.
Muck generated during the Show is kindly collected by a local farmer. However, each year our staff and volunteers have to spend considerable time removing litter from the muck.
Please do as you would at home: separate your litter and use the bins provided.
How can I check which classes I have entered?
You can check your entries through your account:
How will I receive my prize money?
Prize money will be paid directly into the bank account you nominated when you made your entry.
We aim to make all prize-money payments within 30 days of the Show.
You can check or update your bank details here:

Where can I get food and drink?
The Stockman's Bar & Restaurant will be open from Saturday morning, offering a warm welcome, great food and drinks.
It is open to anyone with a wristband, so all livestock exhibitors are very welcome to come along and enjoy some downtime.
Entertainment includes:
- Saturday night: DJ Seb Emmins
- Sunday night: Country covers from The Gamblers
A delicious cooked breakfast will be available from 6.30am, with a full range of hot food options available throughout the day and into the evening.
