NEW EQUESTRIAN QUALIFIERS for 2023

   03 Feb 2023

We are thrilled to announce that we have been allocated new Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and British Show Pony Society (BSPS) Qualifiers for the 2023 Edenbridge & Oxted Agricultural Show!

Keen competitors in the region now have a great new opportunity at the E&O Show on 28th August to qualify for the London International Horse Show in the BSPS New Horizon Plastics Heritage Ridden Championship, held in December at Excel. Eligible ponies will need to be a registered, pure-bred mountain and moorland and classes will be split by breed. If you’ve got a flashy Fell, or a New Forest that knows how to strut their stuff and you’d like to enter, you’ll need to make sure that the rider, owner and pony are BSPS members before you make your entry. This wonderful competition will showcase the best of these much-loved native breeds and will be one not to miss! 1st and 2nd placed pairings go forward to a championship in the Main Ring:

  • The B.S.P.S. New Horizon Plastics Heritage Ridden – Dartmoor, Exmoor and Shetland
  • The B.S.P.S. New Horizon Plastics Heritage Ridden – Welsh Sections A & B
  • The B.S.P.S. New Horizon Plastics Heritage Ridden – Welsh Section C
  • The B.S.P.S. New Horizon Plastics Heritage Ridden – Welsh Section D
  • The B.S.P.S. New Horizon Plastics Heritage Ridden – New Forest & Connemara
  • The B.S.P.S. New Horizon Plastics Heritage Ridden – Fells, Dales & Highlands

2023 will once again see our rings filled with HOYS qualifiers, with 17 in total this year. Top judges drawn from across the country will be putting competitors in showing and driving qualifiers through their paces on 27th & 28th August at our showground in Lingfield, Surrey. Held in October, HOYS celebrates the very best of the best. We’re delighted to host our usual qualifiers as well as four exciting new HOYS ticket opportunities for ridden coloured horses and ponies. To be eligible to enter these new qualifiers, horses and ponies must be registered in the main body of the stud books of the Coloured Horse and Pony Society (CHAPS) or the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association (TGA). All riders and owners must be members of CHAPS, TGA or The Showing Register.
